my friend has given me a foal he needs a passport will this be ok without owning mum?

my friend is giving me a foal from her old mare which she has now sold at weaning will i have any problems getting a passport for him

I guess you are in the UK?
You can register him with any of the recognised societies. If you know his breeding then you can go for his breed society.
Apply to them for a form and then you have to get the vet out to do the makings and to put a microchip into his neck.
If you have no idea as to where to apply for a form (your vet might already have them) I can give you the address for where to apply
