Should I call the vet out for my foal?

My filly just turned one week old today. I was outside with her and her mother taking pictures of them and I noticed (sorry if this is too gross lol) that the foal has diarrhea. Is this normal for young foals? She’s just as active and attentive as normal, she’s nursing fine, and she’s even more social with me today. I heard about something called Foal Heat Scours, but I wasn’t sure if this was it. Help?

Yep, foal heat scours will cause this. The mare goes into heat shortly after foaling and all the extra hormones she produces gets passed on to the foal, via her milk, which will then cause diarrhea. Don’t worry too much about it right now. One thing we do with our foals is to make sure all the messy poo left on the foals bottom is cleaned off so it won’t irritate them.
