Breeding my mare? plz answer asap!?
ok so I really want to breed my mare in about 2 yrs (when i will move on to my other horse who is in training ) she will be 15 or 16. is that to old to breed? i am breeding because i always want to have a part of my horse with me, even when she is gone. she has had a foal with a previous owner and it was healthy as far as i know. she is a rocky mountain/quarter horse mix. i need some training and breeding tips. plz help!
come on! plz answer its a ligit question.
No 15 or 16 is not too old. I have an uncle who breeds Arabs and some of his broodmares are in their 20′s. I bred my appendix qh mare when she was 16 and I wasnt even aware if she was ever bred before. Anyways she delivered a healthy and beautiful colt who is now my 5 year old projects horse! Just remember breeding a horse is a big commitment. Training a baby can be very stressful and complicated. Definately ask your vet what they think first just to be safe. Good Luck and I hope this helps!
