gypsy foal
calling all horse experts?

right. my gypsy vanner horse is very very dominant. he’s 6years old & was rejected as a foal. he has a happy life generally & is usually very willing to learn. he’s a tricolour & 14.2hh.

i’ve noticed.. as i get him in from the field.. leading him towards the gate, he sort of bites at my coat, not hard, but gets it in his mouth, without clenching his teeth down. his ears are usually forward, and if they’re back his eyes are usually half open..

is this a sign of anger, fustration, happyness or anything else?
is he in pain? is he being a mean old pony?

It means that he is not being disciplined and has no respect for you.
The fact that he is not chewing it or actually biting you does not mean that he should not be corrected.
When he does it give him a hard jerk with the rope and tell him “NO”
