How can I make the chances higher of my Chestnut Shetland having a bay foal? What age is an okay age to breed?

We are getting Chestnut 2year old Filly Shetland this saturday. I was just wondering, if we ever do breed her is there any way to make the chances of her having a bay foal higher? We don’t know the colours of her parents, so i say the chances are quite low but i thought id ask any how

also what age is right to get her pregnant, shes 2years now.

we aren’t thinking of breeding her but i was just wondering.i know she can get pregnant around now ut wondering what age would be okay and healthy and best for her to get pregnant?

I think to put her to a stallion before the age of 5 is a bit too much, though they can get pregnant younger.

As to the colour, I do not know of any bay Shetland ponies. They are predominantly grey (born black) or chestnut or coloured.

And you should not breed her indescriminately. She should be fit and sound with good features of her breed. Any glaring faults and you are asking for trouble.
