Training a miniature shetland foal?
We have a miniature shetland foal who’s now a month old. He’s not too bad at having his head collar put on and we haven’t yet started to try and teach him to lead but we were wondering if it was ok to practice picking up his feet. He lets us touch them all over put when we try to pick them up he seems quite off balance. Because he’s so small is it best to wait until he’s a bit bigger and stronger before we try to progress with this or will he be capable of balancing properly? Any help appreciated!
Its normal for a inexperienced horse to be off balanced when having his hooves picked up. Keep working on it, he is not too small to learn to pick up his hooves, in fact, the earlier you start on this, the better.
